The pakhawaja or mridang is an Indian barrel-shaped, two-headed drum,[1] a variant and descendant of the older mridang. It is the standard percussion instrument in the dhrupada style and is widely used as an accompaniment for various forms of music and dance performances. The Tabla is a percussion instrument native to the south Asia region and used primarily in Hindustani classical music. The instrument consists of a pair of hand drums of contrasting sizes and timbres. This is an ancient percussion instrument native to India used as the primary rhythmic accompaniment in Carnatic classical music.
